Rear brake lug snaped on Push Bike

My rear brake lug is snapped on my identiti P45 . Unfortunately unlike some bikes the lugs do not unscrew so it will need to be re-welded.I brought the bike second hand so i fear it wont be under warranty. All the frame work repairers i have spoken to say it will cost more than a hundred pounds to repair. I would only be willing to spend fifty or less.I am an engineer myself. I have some but little experience in welding. The frame is made out of aluminum. What would the repair entail, if i were to do it myself? Can you recommend a good cheap frame repairer in england?ThanksTheo Pack

Answers :

The aluminium frame will always have steel bosses which are very difficult to get out - always. reccomend you get someone to tac weld a tab of metal on to the remainder of the boss and then use a large adjustable spanner or stillsons or similar to unscrew it. check to make sure the welder knows what hes doing and when you ask for a 'tac' to be welded on you mean a 'tac' otherwise the aluminium will met. finally contact Ison distribution via the internet on who are the UK distributer for those particular bikes
What about drilling the frame through where the lug snapped off, then installing screw-in type...just a thought.
